Bangor, Maine, the economic and retail hub of south central Maine, is in Penobscot County. Just 130 miles from Portland, The City of Bangor is located on the western side of the Penobscot River, 30 miles north of the Atlantic Ocean. Bangor is the seat of Penobscot County.
