Rockland, Maine, the county seat, is one of the 18 municipalities located within Knox County. This 15-square mile coastal town at the heart of MidCoast Maine is a popular tourist destination located on Penobscot Bay and the exciting Gulf of Maine. Rockland is bordered by the towns of Owls Head to the southeast, Thomaston to the southwest, Warren to the northwest, and Rockport to the northeast.

Rockland Harbor offers public landing docks from May to October each year.
